MacArthur Beach

Hola....
terribly busy, but because I spend the whole day on the
computer, and when I get home I'm just not in the mood.
Yesterday Gata & I went to Mundo, this really cute open sort
of restaurant in Astoria (you have to say "Astoria" the way the
Manhattanites do...Like with a question mark). It was really
nice because you could get away with not spending a lot if you
wanted to. I like the chicken thing I got.
I do miss being in Florida. I got so used to everything there...I
made friends and was a total beach bum. There was just no
better way to spend a warm day, then to take a dip and then
nap on the sand. It's much better on the nerves. Here in NY, I
noticed immediately after I landed how much it stinks - literally!
The air quality is really bad here and I don't mean to sound
like a snob because I really love the city, but DANG (yes I said
dang). Ha ha. The weather now is getting better, but it does
not feel one bit like June! I'd say it feels more like going into
fall. But whatever. A sticky, muggy city ain't fun anyway.
I have a friend looking after the house, and I hear my ant
problem is getting worse. Gotta call Terminix again. These
darn ants were making paths and taking over! I got the house
sprayed and it nixed the problem...For a little while anyway. I
left all my fun summery clothes in Florida, and have reason to
shop, ha. Ooh...gotta tell you about Shoe Carnival. Don't be
fooled by it's simplistic, corny name! This place was
awesome! I got 4 pairs of shoes for under $60. And two were
well known name brands! (Nine West & Aerosoles). So I
couldn't bring myself to spend $40 on a sandal in NY. As bad
as I do need a pair...Because I am wearing out this one pair
that I have that goes w/ almost anything I wear.
So that's the 411 peeps. LOL....

My Great Weekend
Lebeau (Am I spelling his name right???)
Have you ever heard of "Sea Lice"? They say that they are tiny things you can't see in the water but they make you itch for days...even crawl under your suit - ew!
My new friend, Ruth & Me. Lebeau took this pic, I told him he should be a photographer. Interesting angle, huh? Different. I like it.
The fishing pier! Bring your gear and let's fish!
This was a beautiful bird that we saw singing...it has navy blue feathers on his chest and belly. But you can't really see that.
Awh....love from Daddy....
What do you think, guys? A think I have a new Brat in training!

I'm Still Alive!
This morning is a different story, I get called from my old boss who's starting a different business and needs help when it comes to my knowledge of shipping. It's already 9 and I have to start work....and I haven't had breakfast. (Growl)
Steph, I must say I never tried that 100 sketch project. How I wish to be creative again! What I really liked in college (it's a little weird) was life drawing. Except for that one guy who spoke to me before class a lot, and when the class started, I found out he was the subject. Ew. I don't want to know they are actual people, isn't that horrible! We had this cool older lady more than once. She was cool because she looked nice, and she was so sweet, she would go around and complement your drawing. I would hear her say, "My belly's not that big" "Ooh, I like how you draw me!" She was a cool person.
I have to get to the beach one day...and just watch the ocean. They always say that once you move to a place that has the ocean in your backyard, you hardly go. I don't want that to happen to me. I need nature!
I can draw all the ants that are invading my house.
Good job, Steph you got me to write!

Pot O' Vicks
Smelling Vicks instantly floods my mind with memories of when I was a child. I remember being sick, congested, being stripped of my shirt and slathered with Vicks all over my chest. It felt so cold, the smell medicinal, but somehow comforting.
My aunt has an addictive personality. She recently admitted to being addicted to all sorts of things-for a time before she picks up a new addiction. Thank goodness not drugs, but a whole range of things, from craving pizza and having it all the time, to her vicks inhaler, to french fries with ketchup and mayo - yeah weird things sometimes. I think I sort of have that too. I remember discovering the "Byron" sandwich at Bel Aire and having it week after week - ahh, honey mustard... Oh, and I used to order shrimp with basil at Thai Pavilion every time too, (before that it was chicken with tamarind sauce). I sometimes stop myself and try to order other things, but I think when you find something you like, you just indulge.
So last night I was congested with allergies, and my aunt handed me her new pot of Vicks.
"Here, you could keep it. I'm not into that anymore."
And with that, she passed it on to me.
Sniff....sniff....
Ahh....Vicks.....

I Miss Blogging

This picture (above) is a classic reason why NOT to chew gum when someone has a camera in their hand.

I went to DC under not so good circumstances, but was with family and had a great time. I'll post up pictures soon.

Regrets
I personally cannot bear a future of what ifs, so I find myself always choosing the harder route. For all I know the easier route could be deceiving as well.
I find fear to be a factor of a lot of things in my life. I am afraid to offend, so most of the time I quietly seethe about things rather then bring things up. That is not always the best thing to do, because I might blow up on someone someday!
You always hear things about people losing their inhibitions when they are older and are able to say or do things that they were otherwise shy about years ago. I wonder if that will be me...
